Default 1 elite skill for first and secondary pro?

Ummmm I was just wondering how an elite skill for each of your professions sounds? Like I’m a war/mo (common I know lol) and I use a sword so I would like to use 100 blades but this skill is rather weak and since you can only have one elite skill I stick with Mark of Protection for obvious reasons. But it would be nice to have both^^. So my case is to be limited to 1 elite skill for your 2 professions. So what do you guys think will this unbalance the game or enhance the skill system?

Umm..no. If anything I support the suggestion that others have made: to only let you use Elites from your primary profession.

I understand what you mean but i do not agree. The whole purpose of a secondary pro is to give you another skill pool and atribs to make them more effective thus makeing the game more tactical and i feel that elites go with that.

Some people just want to take ALL the fun out of the game

I think you should be able to use more than 1 elite. THERES alot of good ones. one is not enough.

That's exactly the point- that one just isn't enough. You have to make hard choices. Games aren't fun without interesting decisions.

I think first we gotta convince An to add a few more skill slots before they'll even going to think about multiple elite skills.

I do agree thou that perhaps one from prime and one for secondary would be good, but it might make certain builds a bit too powerful.

It's a good thing I did a search! I was going to post a topic similar to this...

Anywho, I would also like to be able to use one elite from each profession. I currently use Battle Rage, but plan on replacing it with Shield of Regeneration tonight. If I could use one elite from each profession I'd also equip Hundred Blades to use as a quick adrenaline charger, since it isn't nullified by using a non-attack skill (Shield of Regen) like Battle Rage is.

Being a strict PvE player, I don't see any problem with using one elite from each profession. I wouldn't think it would detract from PvP, but this is speculation on my part since I have no interest in it. It would seem to me that if anything it would increase the diversity and strategic planning inherent to PvP.

If using two in PvP truly is an issue, perhaps a solution would be to allow it in PvE, but disable the second elite upon entering any PvP zone (much like what happens when you return to a public zone after capturing a second elite).

I hope ANet at least considers this for a future update.

The entire point of elites is that you can only carry one of them into battle. This is an important part of game balance; a lot of elites got their tag because they were incredibly powerful combined with another elite, hence they forced people to choose between them.

Your secondary profession provides you with a number of additional elites to choose from, which gives you more versatility in creating builds for your character, but the single elite choice, as noted, is there to force you to make an important decision which to take along.

The only argument I see here is that people would simply like to take two elites along because it'll make them more powerful, which is the same line of thinking as 'we want more skill slots'. It's part of the game design to keep it at eight skill slots, just as it is part of the game design to only allow one elite among those eight skills.

I've got no problem with eight skill slots. That's just enough to force you to think about which skills work best together without being overwhelming and/or allows you to be somewhat diverse or more focused depending on what your goal is. Having access to all 100+ skills at once would just make my brain hurt.

There are still important decisions to be made even if you could bring along a second elite from your second profession. You would still have to figure out what the best combination of skills would be for your role in the party. Adding a second elite would not change that. It could make the decision easier, but it could also make it more difficult.

More powerful? Well sure. It is PvE I'm talking about here. I don't believe allowing a second elite would create game-breaking balance issues on the PvE side. I can imagine that allowing it in PvP could disrupt the balance, but like I said before, disable the second elite upon entry to a PvP zone. Simple and already implemented in another fashion.

Of course, then you'd get the PvPers that would bitch because the PvEers had access to something they didn't and PvEers that would bitch because their build is broke in PvP. Christ, I can hear it now.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL...wow...that actually makes me sad...sad that people are suggesting some of the most rediculous things I've ever heard. While we're suggesting outrageous things, why not make it so you can't access your secondary attribute lines as well.

Heh, ridiculous as it may be, it would actually make more sense to not have access to your secondary profession elites, the line of reasoning being that you aren't allowed access to your secondary profession's primary attribute. I'm not saying that I support the removal of secondary profession elites, just that it would make more sense.

Anyway, I think the use of elites are fine as they are now. Certainly it would be interesting to have double the elite power, but I think that the situation is fine as it is, and does not need to be changed.

Instead of allowing to have 2 Elite Skills active, one of each profession...
I'd rather see some re-balancing of which skill is an elite skill and which is not.

See, the hundred blades Skill was made Elite. I can only guess it was made due to the Illusionary Weaponry Build which would overcome the penalty on attack. However... hundred blades isn't really that useful without Illusionary Weaponry. There are just NORMAL Skills which are by far superior. Many a two elite skills i ask myself again and again "why are those crappy things elite skills again?".

See, comparing the use i get from "Peace and Harmony" with that a Warrior would get from Hundred Blades... it's not justified at all. The only use for hundred blades is based on a healing exploit Oo

I'd like to see 2 elites, one from each profession, allowed as well. As of now I capture elites only to see them in my skills inventory list in town.

I suggest this not for dominance over the PvE environment, but rather just more damn fun in the game. It would make for more character variety as well methinks.

It is not to the point like D2 was, where they tease you with items and runes you cannot attain legitimately, since A-net has made acquiring elite skills easier. So its not a complaint but rather a selfish desire.

I play this game for enjoyment right? I don't sit at the PC self-inflicting cat-o-nine-tail lashes as I play, do I?

I'm opposed to it. Like people have said, this game is about choices. On top of that, the ability to choose two elites would allow you to make some downright abusive combinations of skills.
